The Usual Suspects

Gio Washington-Wright's Top L.A. Studio Musicians Tribute Site

Joe Davis was one of the most clear, powerful, and precise lead trumpeters to ever grace the Hollywood studio scene. He was also an absolutely phenomenal jazz player, which made him one of a kind. Every studio trumpeter I've spoken with has said that he's one of the most incredible trumpet players with whom they've ever worked - some even calling him "freakish". Some said he's THE most incredible one. Studio trombonist Alex Iles said, "Joe would play stuff that left us all dumfounded". Wayne Bergeron said, "Joe was a hero of mine. He was also one of the funniest cats I've ever known." His feats in the studio are now the stuff of legend. Rest in peace, Joe Davis.
